As if the thrilling racing and huge turnout wasn't enough to make last weekend's Milton Keynes round of the World Cup stand out from the crowd, it was also the first time that on-board cameras have been used at a cyclo-cross event of such standing.
It was hardly the hoi polloi of the bunch putting them on their machines either: cyclo-cross royalty Sven Nys and Katie Compton both took the plunge (you can see Compton's footage here), giving an exciting, new perspective on the racing.
The doyen of the dirt had a very eventful race, dropping his chain on the first corner, leaving him virtually at the very rear of the pack.
Those travails make for an even more exhilarating highlights package, from the pell-mell sprint for the first corner to Nys fighting his way through pack fodder and his rapidfire bike changes. This is cyclo-cross as we've never seen it before, mud, thuds and all. More of this in the future, please.
Nys ended up finishing in eighth place: very impressive, given his early problems.
