Giro Donne Gallery: Part Two

Giro Donne Gallery: Part Two

With just three more stages to go, the race is still firmly in Anna van der Breggen and SD Worx's hands

Words: Amy Jones

With seven stages now raced at the 2021 Giro d'Italia Donne the GC podium remains unchanged from stage two with SD Worx holding on to all three spots and Anna van der Breggen almost three minutes ahead of second-placed Ashleigh Moolman Pasio.

Away from the GC, Marianne Vos has taken a record 30th Giro Donne stage win her second of the race so far and there's one more opportunity for the former World Champion yet.

The loss of impetus in the GC race might have made things less exciting in those stakes, but the battle for stage wins has certainly made up some ground. The drag race between Lorena Wiebes and Emma Norsgaard on stage five could end up repeating itself today as Norsgaard searches for a win over Wiebes. The two have each taken their first ever Giro stage wins at this race, and if the breakaway doesn't have it, one of these two no doubt will.

Fourth on GC, Lizzie Deignan has shown excellent form at this race — definitely worth smiling about.

After a tough few opening stages, Elisa Longo Borghini appears to have found her legs again, coming second to Marianne Vos on stage 7.
