Welcome to the 2016 Rouleur Online Photo Annual.

Over the New Year period, contributing photographers for Rouleur will be selecting their favourite images from the cycling season.

This week, long time Rouleur photographer Paolo Ciaberta recalls snowy spring days in May spent chasing the Giro d’Italia as it passed over the high passes of the Western Italian Alps.

2016 was also the year that he photographed two iconic Italian cyclists: Felice Gimondi and Mario Cipollini.

“Based in Italy I started working in the field of photography in 2000 as a theatre photographer. Over the years I’ve developed a particular interest in setting up more exclusive and behind the scenes coverage, which I’ve integrated into the projects I work on.

My experience varies from journalism to covering theatre shows and from visualising sports to commercial business. Nowadays I often work on behalf of leading international magazines, focused on sports, culture and society.
