This week, we present frequent Rouleur contributor and Cycling Photographer of the Year, 2015 and 2016, Marshall Kappel.

Marshall’s assignments for Rouleur have taken us around the world – from remote hilltop perches in the French Alps on the WorldTour circuit to the sunny Istrian coast of Croatia with Peter Sagan and the Tinkoff team; from the jungled highlands of Malaysia at the Tour of Langkawi to the sterile suburbs of Tokyo as the season came to a close.

Marshall’s work appeared on two Rouleur subscriber edition covers in 2016: issue 63 and issue 67 (which features a series of photographs from Saitama, Japan), plus the travel cover of issue 66.

Marshall’s shots from Langkawi feature in issue 17.1, out on January 27.

A selection of Marshall’s favourite images are available as high quality art prints, available exclusively online at the Rouleur shop.

As part of our Peter Sagan year in the rainbow jersey issue, Marshall was able to capture many unique images of Peter throughout the year. Here at the Criterium Saitama celebrations.

The Criterium Saitama offered a completely different point-of-view than we are used to seeing. Lush mountains and lonely roads were replaced with dense urban streets and road signs.

For the cover of issue 67, Marshall spots the familiar through the unfamiliar: Chris Froome and the yellow jersey in the two-way mirror of a garage in the Tokyo suburb.
